Marilyn Holt-Smith is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Holt-Smith Advisors. She serves as Senior Portfolio Manager and is involved in all aspects of investment decision-making for client portfolios including equities, fixed income, tactical and strategic. Marilyn has a BA and MBA from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She became a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charterholder in 1985.

Before starting Holt-Smith Advisors in 1987, Marilyn was a Vice-President and Portfolio Manager for Madison Investment Advisors from 1979-1987 as well as an Officer and Director of Bascom Hill Funds.

Marilyn contributes her time and skills to her profession. She is one of the founding members of the Madison Chapter of the Milwaukee Investment Analysts Society (MCMIAS), serving in a variety of leadership roles. Under her term as President, the chapter grew into a full-fledged society, now known as the CFA Society of Madison and is affiliated with the CFA Institute. In addition to her local involvement, Marilyn worked with other CFA Institute members from around the world on the Continuing Education Task Force.

Marilyn is an active volunteer in many state and local community organizations. She served as President of Wisconsin Women Entrepreneurs, which is now merged with National Association of Women Business Owners. Marilyn was involved with Make-A-Wish of Wisconsin as a board member and Wish Granter.  Currently, Marilyn plays an active role on several advisory boards including: UW Colleges and UW-Extension Board of Visitors, the Small Business Development Center of Wisconsin (SBDC), the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Sheldon Lubar School of Business and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee’s Investment Management Program.  She has been a guest lecturer numerous times to University’s entrepreneurship classes.  Marilyn is the Investment Committee Chair of Phenomenelle Angels, a local angel investment group.  She is a board member of the Tempo International Foundation. 

Marilyn is an originator and board member of SB Bancorp and Settlers Bank, a community bank located in DeForest, WI. 

Marilyn is a member of a variety of community and service organizations including Downtown Madison Rotary Club, Tempo Madison and Tempo International. 

Marilyn’s personal interests include reading, knitting, golf and biking along with time spent with husband, Brad, and dog, Boo.
